Freedom Endures When We Teach It, Test It, and Pass It On
Your support sustains a community of students and scholars who carry their work into classrooms, courtrooms, and public life.

What Your Gift Made Possible

Help a million people gain access to medical care
Wisconsin's governor twice vetoed better access to nurse practitioner care. IHS-supported research helped turn the debate and secure passage of a bill that gives one million rural residents new access to primary care.

Encourage SCOTUS to curb executive overreach
IHS partner and legal scholar Ilya Somin published an essay critiquing executive tariff authority that helped persuade two federal courts—and ultimately the Supreme Court—that the tariffs were unconstitutional.
Reach 425,000 students with the principles of liberty
IHS alumni collectively teach an estimated 425,000 students each year—roughly one in every 28 undergraduates. Each new professor we help launch reaches a new generation of students and leaders.
What Our Donors Are Saying
"I have 11 beautiful great-grandchildren under 13, and I have a serious worry about the world they’ll live in. I have supported IHS, and I will continue to, because I believe strongly in the quality and desirability of IHS’s effort to create a culture of freedom in higher education."
"Sustaining a free and flourishing society requires more than good ideas—it requires principled leaders and the systems that allow them to work together effectively. IHS invests in both, building a talent network and strengthening the ecosystem for people and organizations working to advance a free and open society."
"I’m always pleased when I can introduce someone to IHS, and even more gratified when their experience makes them pursue a career in liberty. That’s why I’m a regular IHS donor."

IHS follows the wisdom of Frederick Douglass: “I would unite with anybody to do right and with nobody to do wrong.” That’s why we work with more than 1,500 individual donors and foundations from across the liberal spectrum—left, classical, and conservative—all with the aim of advancing the principles of freedom and human flourishing. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, IHS maintains its own governance and leadership structure, and no donor controls IHS's research agenda, scholar selection, or institutional direction.
